Katy grew up in Southern California where she learned how to surf cold waves, sit patiently in freeway traffic, and wield a paintbrush. She holds a BFA and MFA in Illustration and is a professional contemplator of God and (human) nature.
In 2011, she moved to Florida to teach at Ringling College of Art and Design, and found a new passion for collecting butterflies and kayaking with alligators.
In June of 2021, she will be moving to Colorado to serve as the Head of Illustration at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
Katy's love for art and the natural world, combined with her experience as an educator, has influenced her aesthetic and career. She has an imaginative yet reverent approach to her subjects. Her favorite part about being an artist is learning new things, visually exploring concepts, and sharing her discoveries with others.
