Full Circle Mural
In 2005, the Laguna Canyon Foundation approached Laguna College of Art & Design students to submit designs for a permanent interpretive mural for the new state-of-the-art Nix Nature Center. Katy's design concept titled "Full Circle" was selected by the Foundation. She and a team of eight students researched and created the final mural over a course of two years. The mural serves as non-linear timeline depicting various usergroups who have occupied the land for different purposes. It is painted in oil and incorporates three-dimensional layered panels and sculptural elements such as a bronze hawk and an original ox cart wheel.
